A workshop is hoping to get families dancing in the street.

Whitley Bay Big Local has teamed up with Abby’s Theatre and Dance Academy for a HIP POP workshop.

We take the basics of hip hop dance and create a fun-filled session that anyone can take part in

The event – part of the Big Local’s summer activity programme – will take place on Saturday, August 8, from 11am to noon at the Big Local shop on Park View.

It will offer an introduction to hip hop dance steps and is aimed at children of all ages who are invited to bring along an adult to join in the fun.

Abby Forbes-Chambers, who runs Abby’s Academy in Cullercoats, said: “Dance is such a great way for people of all ages to benefit from a bit of exercise in a really fun way and I’m really looking forward to bringing the workshop to Whitley Bay.

“We take the basics of hip hop dance and create a fun-filled session that anyone can take part in.”

Sarah Sutton, volunteer co-ordinator with Whitley Bay Big Local, said: “The workshop is bound to be a popular feature in our summer activity programme and it’s a great opportunity for all the family to come down and get involved in trying something a different.”
