A music festival showcasing the talents of young bands is looking for the next acts to perform.

‘The Event @ Segedunum’ is an open-air gig for 11 to 19-year-olds held at Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend.

For the third year running, bands and performers aged 11 to 19 can audition for a place.

Last year’s winners ‘Lisbon’, a four man group of students from Whitley Bay High School, performed at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival and will be returning to the Event to open it this year.

Young Mayor Isaac Sidney said: “I’m really excited that the Event @Segedunum is returning – it’s a great way for young people to show off their musical talents.”

Auditions will take place at the Y Studio in the YMCA, Church Way, North Shields, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, April 27, and May 4, with the main event on July 6.

Application forms are available online at www.northtyneside.gov.uk, email participation@northtyneside.gov.uk or calling (0191) 643 8215. Forms must be returned by Friday, April 19.
