PUPILS from a Wallsend school will soon have cause to wear their school team rugby shirt with extra pride on the pitch.
Canterbury, England Rugby’s official kit partner, teamed up with the Rugby Football Union to give a number of secondary state schools the chance to design their school’s team rugby shirt.
And Burnside Business College was one of just 100 schools invited to attend Canterbury kit design workshops where the pupils got to learn about the core values of rugby, the pride associated with the shirt and the importance of colours, logos and emblems, before going on to create their own design.
The drawings were then taken and turned into final bespoke designs which will be produced and supplied to the schools courtesy of Canterbury.
All 100 of the unique rugby shirts are to be revealed when they are presented to the schools at Twickenham this Sunday.
One lucky representative from Burnside Business College will get to wear their school’s specially designed rugby shirt with pride on the pitch ahead of the RBS 6 Nations England v Italy game, and also again at half-time.
The Canterbury kit design workshops are part of All Schools, the RFU’s programme to get more secondary state schools playing rugby union.
