I was concerned that North Tyneside Council chief executive Patrick Melia should state a health and safety risk to the public regarding the roof area of the three shelters on the promenade at Whitley Bay (News Guardian, September 25).
It is the council’s responsibility to maintain and repair these shelters, that is the council’s job. You talk about shooting yourself in the foot?
Just repair the shelters as requested by the residents of Whitley Bay, do not play games we can see through this action.
Who asked and paid for this ‘independent inspection’, and who carried it out?
The next petition, maybe a ‘No confidence in the mayor, council and its elected members’.
