DOGS: It’s law to control pets

I write further to the letter from Steven Coates about dogs, (News Guardian, January 5).

Mr Coates advocates a view which is all too common, that dogs have the right to run free and members of the public must put up with them.

The law in this regard is clear: Dogs in public places must be under control at all times. If your dog is not under control, you are breaking the law.

Members of the public are entitled to run, walk or even do somersaults in public without being harassed or inconvenienced by inadequately controlled dogs.
