I WAS surprised to read ‘Cycle campaign reaches borough’ (News Guardian, January 13) because in my opinion it is the pedestrians who need a campaign to protect them from cyclists.
I am constantly walking, especially in North Shields, and much of the time I feel in danger from cyclists riding on the pavements.
If this is not enough they often place themselves in danger by riding badly on the roads.
Despite writing to the police for several years about cycling on pavements nothing has come of it.
It is my opinion that more than half, and this includes all social groups and ages, of all cyclists are irresponsible and uncaring of their own and others safety.
