Public’s support appreciated

ON behalf of the Rotary Club of North Shields I would like to thank the people of North Tyneside for their generous support over the last three months.

This is always a busy time in our year and the club is pleased that is has been able to help the Children’s Heart Unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital; the Malcolm Sargent CLIC Charity; Great North Air Ambulance and Northumbria Daybreak (for adults with learning disabilities).

In all we have raised more than £2,600 for these organisations.

Meanwhile our club hosted the North Tyneside round of the English Schools Football Association Year 7 national competition.

The winners of the ‘Rotary Club’ presented by our club go on to the next round, the Northumberland finals, and can ultimately be in the national final. This competition is open to both boys and girls teams.

On May 22 at the Playhouse Whitley Bay, we will be celebrating 25 years of hosting North Tyneside Youth Music.

This year the young musicians will help the Rotary Club of North Shields raise funds for MENCAP and North Tyneside Hospital Oncology Department.

Tickets for the concert are on sale at the Playhouse.

For golfers we are again holding our St Oswald’s Hospice golf day at Tynemouth Golf Club on Friday, June 24.

Details are available from Richard Pickering on (0191) 257 3117.

On behalf of our club, I would like to thank you for all your support.
