IT is good to see cross-party support at local level to try to get back the funding for the needed Silverlink improvements taken away from us by the government in London.
Regardless of party affiliation we who live and work, if lucky enough to have a job, in the north east know how vital Silverlink is for the future of our economy.
There is a nightmare prospect of London and M25 style gridlock facing commuters and commercial traffic alike when the new Tyne Tunnel opens.
The madness of throwing away all the potential advantage of the many millions spent on the tunnel already is enough to bring tears of frustration to all drivers.
The government needs to be very aware that it is not only brave Egyptians that can call for ‘Days of Rage’ against an out of touch government.
