IT was encouraging to read the article ‘Coming clean wins accolade’ (News Guardian, March 17).
North Tyneside has been awarded a five-star rating for cleanliness.
But the inspectors obviously missed Hotspur Street in Tynemouth, where the roads and footpaths are a disgrace.
Front Street is kept beautifully clean, swept every morning.
Hotspur – the forgotten street – is the main thoroughfare between Front Street and the beach, so is well used by locals and visitors.
The mess on the footpath by Prudhoe Terrace has become a permanent feature.
So how about it council, even once a month, have a clean up in Hotspur Street?
