Bates stand-in skipper Steve Matthewson lost the toss and Whitley chose to field on a glorious afternoon.
Whitley Bay struck first, Harris bowling the Bates skipper with only eight on the board, then fellow opener Gillott falling for a quickfire 1
2 with the score on 25.
Bates re-grouped, with Alan Woolf and Adam Pilkington looking comfortable, putting on 56 for the third wicket before a mini collapse with Hasmi taking four quick wickets to leave Bates on 118-7.
Sundaram and Telford then launched a counter attack, with the numbers nine and ten putting on a sparkling 45 with a succession of strongly hit fours.
Bates eventually finished on 170-9 with Telford unbeaten on 26.
Whitley looked to eat into the total with some quick singles, but Dasika struck early with two beautifully swinging deliveries that bamboozled opener Douglas and Hashmi to leave Whitley on 10-2.
Ord and Pearson steadied the ship before Sundaram got one to nip back off a length to clean bowl the Whitley number four, and he struck again in the same over, Harris lifting one to gully with Chris Wilson holding on to leave Whitley in trouble.
Ord (56 not out) was playing a strong innings and looking comfortable, but he could not find a partner capable of staying with him as Bates kept on taking wickets.
With Whitley always behind the run rate, Bates looked strong, and once again a superb bowling performance carried them to victory with an excellent team performance, with batting star Telford only conceding 16 runs from his ten overs, and Sundaram and Dasika sharing six wickets with some superb swing bowling.
The semi's await for an unbeaten Bates side, and they will be one to avoid when the draw takes place.
