A TEAM of players drawn from the best boys clubs in the area has progressed to the final of a national cup competition.
Northumberland have reached the final of the Gillette Cup after beating Hertfordshire 4-0 away from home in Radlett.

The team, with young players from Wallsend Boys Club, Whitley Bay Boys Club, Ashington AFC, Heaton Hawks, Walker Central and Cramlington Juniors, will now be playing at the national final on May 18 at Meadow Lane, home of Notts County.

The long journey south didn't seem to effect Northumberland's performance with Dan Landsbury netting his hat-trick in the first half.

Grant Patterson sealed the win with a near post header in the last minute.
