THE draws for the North Tyneside Closed Tennis tournament are now up in all local clubs.
Matches are starting soon and will culminate in the finals day on Saturday, September 6, at Cullercoats Tennis Club.

The mini tennis pre qualifying events have already been played with Dan McGee and Gabe Allonby (both Collingwood TC) winning throu
gh to the boys mini Red final.

In the eight and under section Sam Allonby and Alex Jay, and Molly Robinson and Grace Fatkin (all Collingwood) will contest the boys and girls finals, whilst James Parkin (Cullercoats) and James Bromham (Collingwood) and Laura Van Rensbeke (Collingwood) and Ailsa Denholm (Beverley Park) will contest the nine and under mini orange events.

There were plenty of entries in all other junior events especially the Boys 14s where No 1 seed Sam Lemberger (Cullercoats) is seeded to meet No 2 Jordan Simpson (Cullercoats) in the final.

In the Boys 16s No 1 seed Greg Thompson is due to meet No 2 seed William Whitehouse if they make it through.

In the seniors events No 1 seed in the men's, Stuart Cass, must get past Jonny Hymers in the semis and is due to face No 1 seed James Wilson in the final.

The ladies singles sees No 1 seed Lauren Jones potentially face No 2 Svetlana Freeman if they both win through, whilst the ladies doubles is more straightforward with L Jones /S Scrafton (Cullercoats) facing Daphne Tertrais and Hayley Williams (Collingwood).

The men's doubles sees three times winner David Boddy/Neil Carmichael play the winners of Peter Carmichael/Danial Hudspith vs Matt Drennan/Steve Fairs whilst Stuart Cass/Steve Lord face David and Jonny Hymers to play Wilson/Mpofu in the semi.

In the mixed doubles Steve Lord and Sarah Scrafton face a tricky match against Matt Drennan and Lisa Kennedy, with the winners playing David Boddy and Beth Dixon.
