The 18-year-old St Thomas More High School pupil was due to race in the 1500m at Bedford this weekend in an attempt to book his spot on the plane to Serbia at the end of July.
But after picking up a last-minute injury Murray was unable to make the
trials and with four athletes now eligible for three Serbia spots the 18-year-old's fate lies in the hands of the selectors.
And Murray is gearing himself up for an anxious week of waiting for the postman.
"It's all a bit of a waiting game for me now," said Murray, who this year has been re-selected for the Original Source-funded UKA Heroes project.
"I'm sure there will be a selection meeting this week and they will decide then but they know what my situation is with my injury so hopefully they will take that into account.
"There are obviously four people who have the qualifying time now and I am one of them so they will have to make their decision but hopefully I'll get selected.
"I haven't got a clue what is going to happen but the selectors know my medical situation so hopefully they will take that into account."
Murray ran the Serbia qualifying time with 3.43:93minutes, over three seconds under the required time, at the BMC Nike Grand Prix in Watford on June 13.
And despite his untimely injury, the 18-year-old insists he will be fit in time for the championships in Novi Sad at the end of July.
"It was disappointing to get an injury just before the trials," added Murray.
"But I am confident that if I am selected I will definitely be recovered in time and I would love to go out there."
UKA Heroes project sponsored by Original Source is a successful initiative which offers financial support to talented young athletes who are working towards the 2012 and 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
