Tennis club offering weekend of free coaching sessions

WITH Wimbledon now well underway, Cullercoats Tennis Club is offering free coaching this weekend – June 28 and 29.
Everyone is welcome to turn up and have a go. Free sessions are:

Saturday 11am to noon – teenagers; Saturday noon to 1pm – performance junior players; Saturday 1pm to 2pm – mini tennis red (ages five to eight years); Saturday 2pm to 3pm – mini ten
nis orange (ages seven to ten); Saturday 3pm to 4pm – mini tennis green (nine to 12s); Sunday 6pm to 7.30pm – adult beginners /intermediate; Sunday 7.30pm to 9pm – adult advanced /team players.

• Meanwhile Preston Grange Primary School and Denbigh Primary School competed in the Tyne and Wear schools tennis finals at the Puma Tennis Centre, Sunderland.

Both teams did well with Denbigh coming eighth and Preston Grange, despite winning more tennis matches than any other team, third.

Having won the North Tyneside competition, Preston Grange were joined by runners-up Priory girls due to the mixed nature of the tournament.

Tennis development officer Stuart Cass and tennis coach Aaron Mpofu said they were both proud of their teams and how they competed on the day.

Entry forms are available now for the 6th LTA sanctioned North Tyneside Junior Open tennis tournament held the first week of the summer holidays at Collingwood and Cullercoats tennis clubs.
