Tennis clubs join forces to run training sessions

CULLERCOATS and Collingwood tennis clubs are jointly running summer tennis camps at mini tennis orange and green level in the second and third weeks of the holidays.
The camps are run from 10am to 2pm and are open to anyone, not just club members.

They will be run by club coach Stuart Cass and assistant coaches Lauren Jones and Sarah Scrafton on the weeks of July 28 to August 1, and August 4 to 8.

Camps are
open to anyone aged six to 11, currently playing mini tennis Orange or Green level.

Availability is limited and courses are over half full already so for an application form contact Stuart Cass on 07787 543072.

• Cullercoats mini tennis Red team had a narrow win over Collingwood tennis club mini red team to go top the mini league.

The team of Ben McDermott, Tom Whiting Adams, Jordan Cox and Jack Woodward played very well in their first local league match beating a young Collingwood team 159 points to 143.

The star players for the home team were Ben and Tom who both won three matches each with Jordan and Jack picking up two matches each in their first fixture.

For the away side Gabe Allonby won all four matches with Tom Robinson picking up two good wins and Sam Pearson also doing well in his first competitive match.

The youngest player in the league Eddie Marshall did incredibly well for Collingwood winning two matches in his first competitive outing having only started playing last winter.
