BLACK Adders and Sage Touch Rugby teams returned from Stirling after competing in the first round of the Scottish National Touch Series.
A total of 20 teams took part in the competition, which attracted the very best touch rugby teams in Scotland.

Black Adders (pictured) got to the final of the bowl competition after playing in five matches but in a dramatic final they were narrowl
y beaten by the hosts to take sixth place in the overall competition.

Captain Phillip Wilson said: "We took a squad of 14 with us to Stirling, and within the squad were youngsters who have been developing their skills at our sessions at Rockcliff every Thursday night.

"They proved to many of the teams taking part in the competition that they have the skill and energy to go a lot further in the sport of touch rugby."

The next round of the Scottish Touch Series is in Glasgow at the end of the month.

Both Sage and Black Adders are intending to send squads to take part.

The last two rounds of the series are being held in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

They will therefore accumulate more than 1,300 miles of travel to take part in all four rounds of the competition as well as competing in local events organised by Newcastle Falcons.

Anyone who would like to find out more about touch rugby in the north east or further afield should contact Rockcliff Rugby Club on (0191) 251 3704 or come along to the weekly sessions at Lovaine Avenue on Thursdays at 6.30pm.
