A TOTAL off 22 sides battled it out in the annual Super Tens Tournament held at Rockcliff RFC.
The event – sponsored by Henry Colbeck Catering Suppliers – was started by North Tyneside Mayor John Harrison with the winners of the first round going into the cup competition and the losers into the plate competition.
Rockcliff made up for a lacklustre season by finally winning a trophy, beating Orrel Anvils in the final of the plate competition.
Percy Park continued with their good record in the tournament by winning the cup for the fourth time in six years.
On their way to the plate final Rockcliff beat Loughborough University Towers Hall 15-5, Waid FP 47-0, Haarlem 36-0, and Prudhoe and Stocksfield 39-0.
In a hard fought final Johnny Gould opened the scoring with a try and Andrew Webster notched a penalty for 8-0.
Orrel fought back and only a super cover tackle by Simon Tindall prevented what looked like a certain score.
In the second half Webster chased down a kick and picked up to score Rockcliff's second try.
Anvils fought back and eventually were rewarded with a try which they converted for 13-7.
Percy Park beat Orrel Anvils 22-7 in the first round and then went on to beat North Shields 36-7, and Cullercoats Colts 36-0 in the semi-final.
In a well contested final Park faced Whitchurch, and they outscored their opposition by five tries to two to retain the cup for another season.
Newcastle Falcons player Steve Jones presented the trophies.

ROCKCLIFF U14 finished their season with a flourish with a win at Lanchester.
Rockcliff attacked from the start but struggled to cross the home line until Joe Smith bulldozed over.
Rockcliff continued to press but found themselves 10-5 down at half-time after two breakaway tries by Lanchester.
In the second half Reece Straker caught the ball and charged into the opposition forwards – the Rockcliff pack got behind him and drove 50 metres.
They pounded the opposition until Smith forced his way over from close range.
With five minutes to go Straker again went on the charge, bouncing opponents off as he went to set up a ruck ten metres from the Lanchester line.
Rockcliff's forwards recycled twice more for Rhys Johnstone to touch down between the posts.
From the kick off Rockcliff forwards won possession again and set up quality ball for the backs to transfer the ball through three pairs of hands to set Peter Bain clear on the wing to score a superb try.
Last seasons record of no wins and 15 defeats has been buried.
This year's record of 14 wins and 12 defeats is testament to the progress this team has made.
