WHITLEY BAY Cricket Club's fixture with table toppers Cramlington was washed out without a ball being bowled last Saturday, as was the club's second team fixture with Blyth.
However, the club's Sunday XI, who operate in the Hetton Lyons Sunday League did manage to complete a game.

Mighty Sunderland were the visitors to the Bay's West Park Ground.

Bay's skipper Andrew Dixon won the toss and put Sunderland into bat on a wet wicket.

The home bowlers responded and bowled Sunderland out for 120 with young Aussie Abdullah Hashmi claiming 4-13 and Stephen Kirk returned figures of 3-21.

The reply was so near yet so far as they themselves were bowled out for 118 with Abdullah Hashmi on 48 not out.

This young side performed well on the day and but for two precious runs could have been celebrating a memorable victory.

This Saturday sees Whitley Bay's First team travel to face bottom side Old Record Players, whilst the Second team welcome Blyth to the West Park Ground, both games start at 1.30pm.
