FIGURE skaters from Whitley Bay are celebrating their success in a national figure skating competition.
Five skaters from Whitley Bay Ice Skating Club made the journey to Deeside, Wales, to represent their country in the NISA cup final.

John Hayes, Callum Leach, Alice Hopkinson, Natalia Ivanova and Sophie Watson had all qualified for the event which saw them compete against skaters from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Callum and John were crowned NISA cup champions in their respective categories, along with Alice and Natalia picking up silver medals and Sophie taking home a bronze medal.

Their tally was the best from any skating club in England and contributed to England beating the other home nations to the cup for the second year running.

Coach Allan Doran said: "All of our skaters have worked very hard and deserve all the success that they have achieved and we are very proud of them."
