Whitley Bay overcome old rivals

WHITLEY BAY Cricket Club defeated old rivals New Hartley Cricket Club by four wickets last Saturday at the West Park Ground.
Man of the match for the Bay was young Aussie all rounder Abdullah Hashmi.

He returned bowling figures of four for 32 as New Hartley were bowled out for 155 and then steered his side to victory with a superb 71 not out.

Meanwhile the club's second team defeated Kirkley second team by 39 runs. Graham Ord top scored with 68 runs and John Douglas scored an attractive 54.

The Bay totalled 187 for five and bowled Kirkley out for 148 with Chris Wrigley taking three for 20 and young Danny Kenney claiming three for 37.

The Bay remain top after this convincing win.

The Bay's first team head south on Saturday to play Hebburn whilst the seconds entertain Corbridge.

Both games begin at 1.30pm.
