BOTH of the Percy Hedley Eagles Wheelchair Basketball teams face crunch games this weekend as they both continue to target the title for this season in their respective games.

Eagles 1 who play in Division 1, take on both Sheffield Steelers and Belfast Knights on Saturday February 18, and on Sunday 19th February respectively.

So far this season Eagles 1 lost in both away games to these two teams, but following a massive improvement over the course of the season they are relishing the opportunity to overturn the defeats and maintain a top of the table position.

The second half of the season has seen Eagles 1 consistently put on good performances and have been starting to find clinical finishing which was lacking in the first half of the season.

Losing at home to Lothian Phoenix but then putting them to the sword in the Away game and coming away with a crucial win will see the season drawing to a close with a very exciting tussle between Eagles 1, Steelers and Knights.

Eagles 2, playing in Division 2 are away on Saturday in an equally important game.

Playing with a depleted squad means they need to put out their best performance of the season against Celtic Warriors if they want to keep their title chances alive.

Eagles 2 have only lost one game so far this season to Vikings and this weekend’s game is a crucial encounter as they head towards the potential title deciding home game against Vikings later on this spring.

Adam Parry, Sports Development Manager and Eagles 1 Forward said: “It has been a really good season all round for Wheelchair Basketball at Percy Hedley this year.

“We have had great performances from all of our teams involved in the leagues from the U-15’s right up to the Division 1 team.

“This weekend is a real make or break weekend for both the Division 1 and Division 2 teams as results this weekend will go a long way to deciding who wins their respective leagues.

“It would be great to get some support along to the Sports Academy weekend to watch what are going to be tough, hard fought but thrilling wheelchair basketball encounters.”

Both games will be taking place at Percy Hedley Sports Academy on Saturday 18th at 1pm and Sunday 19th at 1pm.
