WHITLEY Bay’s hectic run-in to the end of the season continues with six games over the next two weeks.
Tonight, Monday, they make the short trip to Newcastle Benfield before playing away to Celtic Nation on Wednesday.
On Saturday, South Shields visit Hillheads for the cross Tyne derby game.
Until a few weeks ago, the Mariners looked certain to be relegated but a run of five consecutive wins has seen them in with a chance of retaining their division one status, so they are expected to provide a strong challenge for Ian Chandler’s side.
Earlier in the season, Whitley Bay enjoyed a runaway victory at Filtrona Park, emerging 6-1 winners, but a much closer game is expected at the weekend.
Bay are back on the road the following week with their final three away games.
On Tuesday, April 23, they travel to Ryhope to take on Sunderland RCA, then on Thursday, April 25, they make the journey south to Newton Aycliffe, a side battling to avoid relegation.
Then on Saturday, April 27, they are due to complete their away programme with an even longer journey south to Marske, another side struggling just above the relegation zone.
