RECORD-breaking three times FA Vase winning club Whitley Bay are able to celebrate the arrival of yet more silverware as one of their under-15’s sides, Whitley Bay Milan, has claimed the NABC second division title.
This latest success means that they have achieved consecutive back to back promotions taking them from the third division into the top tier of local junior football in just two seasons.
The squad is overseen by manager Steve Smith and coach Tom Seymour who have been very impressed by the attitude and performance of the youngsters during the course of the current campaign.
“The lads won the third division of the NABC quite comfortably last year with a few games to spare, and for this campaign Tommy and I decided to set the bar high with a target of getting up into the top flight in just a single season,” said manager Smith.
Coach Seymour added: “They rose to the challenge magnificently and although we are under no illusions as to the quality of some of the teams in the top league, the boys are raring to go and can’t wait for the new season to start.”
Seymour also praised the squad for their team spirit and commitment during the season just gone.
