FOLLOWING the excitement of the FA Vase, Whitley Bay FC are now into a key period of league fixtures with games against most of their championship rivals.
Following a midweek game at Shildon, Ian Chandler’s team travel the short distance along the Coast Road on Saturday for a local derby at Newcastle Benfield, a side one place above them in the STL Northern League division one.
When the sides met at Hillheads in October, a closely contested game ended goal less, and once again there seems little to choose between two well matched teams.
Next Tuesday evening (March 15), Whitley make a quick return to Dunston, who will doubtless be looking for revenge for their FA Vase quarter-final defeat.
Whitley’s next home game is a week on Saturday when Consett, another of the sides battling for the title, are the visitors to Hillheads.
