Blyth Town extend six-month winning league run in Northern Alliance

Blyth Town’s six-month winning run in the Northern Alliance Newcastle Building Society premier division as they saw off North Shields Athletic on Saturday.

Connor Andrews struck twice at Shields with Anth Moran, David Robinson and Daniel Beresford also on target in the 5-2 way win.

Daniel Capewell and Craig Boyle scored for the home side.

Quick-fire goals from Kevin Westphal and Dan Chambers for Shankhouse cancelled out Steve Brown’s double for Red House Farm, but the hosts regained the lead and won it when Chris Mann curled in late on.

Carlisle City sub Ryan Errington also hit a late winner, against Rutherford, after Jamie Heath’s opener was cancelled out by Ricky Tanoh.

Goals late in each half from Connor Johnson and Tom Potter gave Whitley Bay A a win at Ashington Colliers.

Scott Robson and Liam Henderson netted in the second half for Whickham SC as they beat Seaton Delaval.

Five goals shared between Greg Reardon, Alex Slack, Ben Fenwick, Matty Blackith and Adam Whitehead saw Wallington to a 5-1 success against Hebburn Reyrolle.Mark McDonnell opened for Walker Central but an own goal earned Northbank a share of the spoils.

In the Nike first division, Newcastle University’s Oliver Walker hit four as the Students stunned leaders Percy Main. Graham Allen pulled one back but it was a rare defeat for the Villagers.

Andrew Welsh, Dean Ellis and a Keenan Nellis penalty for Bedlington Terriers Reserves gave AFC Newbiggin a fright, but Kris Allington and John Bone both hit doubles with Richie Morris also finding the net for the Seasiders.

Cramlington Town raced into a 5-0 lead at Bohemians with goals from Daniel McDonald (2), Mark Nixon, Stuart Kyle and Josh Walsh. Pete Hall and Andrew Dalton bagged replies.

Ponteland also enjoyed a five-goal success at New Fordley, with Zac Beweley, Billy Holden, Joe Slade, Stu Taylor and Harry Cook the scorers.

In the Bay Plastics second division, Gateshead Leam Rangers stay on top as Liam Barnett, James Fenwick and Ryan Gibson fired in against Longbenton.

Shilbottle CW stay in contention after Josh Hay, Brad McClelland and Matthew Graham crashed in against High Howdon, who pulled one back through Chris Marshall.

Alnwick Town Reserves were just seconds from victory at Willington Quay Saints when Dale Johnson hit a late leveller. Saints had gone in front through Liam Taylor, but a Dominic Schievetta penalty and a Ryan Taylor double looked to have earned Town three points. But Glen Johnson pulled one back with an 83rd minute penalty then Dale Johnson shot home in the 90th minute.

Lindisfarne Custom Planet edged out Newcastle Benfield Reserves with goals from Ryan Smith, Micky Hedley and a Pete Lowery penalty. Mikel Thompson (pen) and Sam Burby replied.

Grainger Park’s Shaun Young (2), Robert Jefferson and Michael Rankin gave them a narrow victory over Cramlington United, who had led through Niall Younger (2) and Mark Nicholson.
