WHITLEY Bay FC striker Christie Elliott has joined Scottish First Division side Partick Thistle on a two-year contract.
Elliott visited the Glasgow club for a trial last week and impressed sufficiently to be signed on later in the week.
He made his debut on Saturday against Hamilton Academicals and scored just minutes after coming off the bench to earn his new side a 1-1 draw.
It represents a rapid progression for the teenager, who only joined Whitley Bay at Easter from Wearside League side Jarrow FC.
He made six appearances for the Bay, scoring twice; on his debut against Stokesley and at West Allotment.
Bay manager Ian Chandler said that everyone at Hillheads wished Elliott well and he expects big things of the youngster as a professional footballer.
Also leaving Hillheads is defender Steve Gibson, who spent last season with Whitley after joining the club a year ago from Surrey side Chertsey Town.
Gibson made 36 appearances and scored two goals, but 11 of his appearances were as a substitute.
Partly due to injuries and stiff competition within the squad, he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter.
He came on as a late substitute against Coalville Town at Wembley.
