Cullercoats FC Under-21s off to a flyer

Cullercoats FC Under-21s secured a comprehensive 7-1 win in their first home game of the new season in the Northumberland Under-21 League against Ashington FC on Sunday.

First half goals from Hylton Hub (2), Jake Newstead, Stephen Moat and captain Lloyd Leigh secured a comprehensive half-time lead for the home side.

However, full back James Anderson made two goal line clearances and keeper David Morton pulled off two superb saves to keep out Ashington in an entertaining and open first half.

Cullercoats extended their lead after the break with second half goals from Jake Newstead and Martin Cobley.

Ashington replied with a consolation goal in between to make the final score 7-1.

Hylton Hub was awarded man of the match by the opposing manager in what was a thoroughly impressive display by the whole squad.

Cullercoats travel to Forest Hall next weekend for a 2pm kick-off.
