Cullercoats U14 Girls got back to winning ways on Saturday when they beat Heaton Hawks on a 3G pitch.

With a new formation in place, Cullercoats dominated the first half and went 1-0 up when Mia Wallace struck the back of the net after 12 minutes.

Just six minutes later, Beth Waterson went in for a brave challenge with the home keeper and nicked the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0.

Second half chances came and went, but Cullercoats Girls should have been three up when a training ground move almost paid off for Saffy Hogarth, who gambled on a ball to clean through on goal, but the home keeper pulled off a great save.

Chloe Mackenzie was deservedly named player of the match after bossing the midfield, just edging out the in-form Holly Cameron.

The result demonstrated the large strides taken by Cullercoats Girls this season, who had suffered a 5-0 reverse to Heaton Hawks during a pre-season friendly.
