Cullercoats Under-12s competed in their first ever League Cup final but lost out to a single goal at Newcastle City Juniors at KYPC, Killingworth.
The game was played to a high standard throughout and Newcastle City made the crucial breakthrough midway through the first half with a superb volley from the edge of the box into the top right corner of the net.
However, Cullercoats continued to compete all over the pitch in a hugely entertaining first half and captain Josh Morton went close with an excellent free kick from outside the box which was tipped over the bar by the Newcastle keeper.
Cullercoats created opportunities after the break to level the game but both defences held out and the game ended in a 1-0 victory for Newcastle City.
The game was an excellent advert for both clubs who played football of the highest quality throughout.
Cullercoats will be continuing their training programme into the close season and anyone interested in joining the squad should email email@example.com for further information.
