Cullercoats U14 girls beat Newcastle East End

Cullercoats U14s Girls were in action at a blustery Walker Central pitch against Newcastle East End on Saturday.

It was a tentative opening by both teams, but as the game progressed Cullercoats started to press, but two fantastic stops from the East End keeper after strikes from Beth Waterson kept it at 0-0 at the interval.

The swirling wind proved difficult after the break, but some excellent passing in the final third carved open the East End defence and Saffy Hogarth expertly tucked away the opener to make it 1-0 to Cullercoats.

Cullercoats added a second goal five minutes later when Beth Waterson found space in the box and slotted past the home keeper.

East End pulled one back late on but Cullercoats dug deep and showed great spirit and determination to hang on to their lead.

Cullercoats’ full-backs Alice Bulloch and player of the match Holly Cameron deserved special mention as they won every tackle and remained cool and calm under pressure.
