Ferrell leaves Whitley Bay to be Bedlington Terriers assistant manager

The only disappointment of Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over West Auckland Town came after the game when Whitley Bay’s man of the match Andy Ferrell revealed that this had been his last game for the club.

“I’ve been offered the assistant manager’s job at Bedlington and it’s something I can’t turn down,” he said.

“I’ve been really happy here, it’s a great club and I’d loved to have stayed longer, but you’ve got to take these chances when they come along.

“Maybe I’ll be back here again sometime in the future.”

Bay manager Paddy Atkinson said he wished Ferrell all the best of luck in his new job.

“It’s disappointing to lose him but you can’t stand in his way, it’s a great job for him,” said Atkinson.
