WHITLEY Bay are expecting a crowd of around 1,000 at Hillheads on Saturday when Darlington 1883 are the visitors.
The Ebac Northern League division one leaders were reformed following the demise of the former Football League club.
The Quakers are strong favourites to take the title and gain promotion.
They have retained a large fan base and upwards of 500 are expected at Hillheads, swelling the crowd to around 1,000, which would be Whitley’s biggest league gate of the season.
Darlington are currently on an excellent run of form, having scored well over 100 goals already, so Saturday’s game will be a test for Whitley.
Whitley Bay follow this on Monday in a rearranged game with a trip to Bishop Auckland in the fourth round of the League Cup. The winners will be at home to Newcastle Benfield in the semi-final.
Bay then welcome league champions and FA Vase finalists Spennymoor to Hillheads next Thursday evening as they continue their schedule of three games a week throughout April.
