In one of North Shields Athletic’s longest journeys of the season they found themselves at the Sheepmount Sports Ground in Carlisle.
The game kicked off at a frantic pace with both teams playing attacking football.
After a few early chances Athletic found themselves behind after a mix-up in defence when the ball was played back to their keeper and when he tried to clear it took a bobble and went under his foot and trickled into the goal.
Northbank started to assert some pressure and Athletic were struggling to cope with the ball over the top causing them some alarm at the back.
With Northbank hitting the post a couple of times the game could of been over by half-time.
But Athletic got themselves back in the game when Lee Crammond scored the first of two goals when a Sean Millington corner found him unmarked in the box and he made no mistake in placing it past the home keeper.
The second half started with Athletic starting to show more attacking intent.
Scott Jasper went close on a couple of occasions but Northbank were not going to let Athletic have it easy and Sean Korsbo in the Athletic goal was called into action on a couple of one-on-ones.
With the clock ticking down Crammond scored what looked like the winning goal when he reacted first to a ball that came back off the crossbar to make it 2-1 to Athletic.
But just before the end Northbank scored their second and equalising goal for a 2-2 scoreline, which was a fair result.
