WHITLEY Bay FC were knocked out of the League Cup last night by in-form West Auckland.
Bay travelled to the Durham outfit looking to bounce back from their FA Cup exit at Kendal on Saturday.
However, they suffered a 4-2 defeat to the fellow division one side.
The home side took the lead after five minutes through Mattie Moffat, but an own goal from Jonny Gibson brought the scores level.
West regained the lead with Moffat once again on target, this time just after the interval.
But the visitors responded and Lee Kerr pulled Bay level for a second time on 70 minutes through a free kick.
Adam Nicholls restored the lead again for the hosts before the tie was disrupted by a floodlight failure as the game moved into stoppage time.
The contest was delayed for around half an hour as an electrician worked on getting the lights back on.
Once the game restarted West Auckland added a fourth through Martin Young to complete the victory.
