WHITLEY Bay FC secured three crucial league points on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Tow Law Town at Hillheads.
Two second half goals from Lee Kerr secured the victory, which puts Bay in fourth place in the league with 81 points, a point behind Shildon but with five games in hand over the Dean Street side.
It took until the 68th minute for Bay to open their account when Kerr fired the ball through a busy goalmouth and into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
Two minutes later and the home side had doubled their lead when Kerr scored from the penalty spot.
More than 300 fans turned up for the game, which saw solid performances from defenders Brian Smith and Brian Rowe.
Bay boss Ian Chandler said: “It was a poor first half but we were much better in the second, and Lee Kerr was fantastic, and helped well by Craig MacFarlane and Chris Fawcett.”
