On Saturday Whitley Bay travel north to take on newly promoted Morpeth Town, who regained their Northern League top flight status this season after a four-year gap.
The sides met at Hillheads in September with a Chris Reid strike and an own goal from defender Michael Hall giving Whitley the points.
Morpeth struggled for consistency in the early stages of this season but their form has improved recently, and prior to this week’s midweek games they were two places below Whitley having played one game more.
Among their ranks are two former Bay players, Marc Walmsley, a veteran of Whitley’s first FA Vase winning team in 2002, and Jack Palmer, who played a handful of games for Ian Chandler’s side early last season.
Then on Tuesday, December 17, Whitley welcome Penrith to Hillheads for a game that has a 7.45pm kick-off.
The Cumbrians are comfortably placed in mid-table but have performed better on their travels than at their Frenchfield home, with only two defeats away from home.
