Dale Pearson was Saturday’s star man as he celebrated a double hat-trick in Tyneside Amateur League leaders Hazlerigg Victory’s 7-0 win over Ponteland United Reserves.
Mark Davison netted the other for Mark Bullock’s side who remain the team to beat.
Stobswood Welfare maintained the four-point gap in second, but they had to do it the hard way against Newcastle Chemfica Reserves. Daniel Kenny’s brace had Chemfica 2-0 up at the interval, but Welfare would not lie down, and a hat-trick from Rob Baker gained them a precious three points.
Forest Hall YPC moved into third spot with a 5-3 win at Newcastle East End. Scott Parker, Michael Stephenson and Dean Bell netted for East End, but Forest Hall earned the points thanks to goals from Mackenzie Mason, Lewis Walker and a hat-trick from Michael Sutcliffe.
Newcastle Medicals were held to a 2-2 draw by basement club Lindisfarne Custom Planet Reserves. Ross Brown and Dan Ramshaw netted for Medics, but Brett Paolozzi and Adam Gourley ensured Lindy were able to take home a point.
The remaining games between North Shields Athletic Reserves and Blyth Town Reserves, and Ryton and Crawcrook Albion Reserves and West Jesmond, were postponed after more wet weather.
