WHITLEY Bay Boys Club Whites returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Blyth Rangers.
The game was barely a minute old when Harry Richardson struck a superb right foot shot to open the scoring.
A minute or two after that, Oliver Harrison hit the side netting.
Fred McKenzie in the Whites goal was called into action to keep his side in front.
Will McCamley hit the post while Jake Hill constantly combined well with Harry Richardson in midfield.
Chris Allen and Ben Reid held a strong back line while Sam Petty rose to the challenge of playing an unaccustomed role in the centre of midfield.
He and Nathan Lea passed the ball around well and both looked comfortable
It did not take Petty long to open his account for the season and his right foot shot from just inside the box beat the Blyth keeper.
Petty added his second before the interval.
In the second half Allen took advantage of some sloppy defending from the opposition, but his shot was well saved by the keeper.
A fair result and Rangers will no doubt take heart from this, as their position at the foot of the table did not reflect how well they played.
