Red Lion in extra time win over Blyth Sports

Forest Hall FC had their game called off in the NFA Minor Cup and will try to play their home game against Newcastle Tyneside Irish Club on Sunday.

In the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck JD Marnock Cup round two, South Beach got the better of local rivals Blyth High Street 2-1 thanks to goals from ex-High Street player Dean Fitch and David Thompson. Sean Taylor scored for Street.

Ashington Excelsior’s game at home against Blyth United Services was off.

Red Lion Earsdon and Blyth Sports and Social Club produced a thriller of a game, going to extra time with the Red Lion running out 8-4 winners. The Sports Club were left to rue a missed penalty when the scores were level.

Goals for the Lion came from Michael Hartley (3), Michael Richardson (2), Andrew Smith, Rob Carr, Jamie Barker and Scott Purcell. Goals for the Sports Club came from Paul Joicey (2), Jason Hamilton and Richard Kennedy.

All games in the premier division were off due to waterlogged pitches.

In division one Newbiggin Bankhouse had a tremendous 10-0 win at home against A E Phoenix with goals from Ross Adams (5), Colin McLellend, Karl Davison, David Jobson, Daniel Marshall and an own goal.

Ashington White House continued their good form with a 5-1 home win against Stakeford Cherry Tree. Goals for the White House came from Trevor Newman (2), Gary Brotherton, Andrew McLennen and Ben Davison. Jake Gray scored the consolation goal for the Tree.

Blyth Waterloo just came out on top 2-1 against Blyth Isabella Colliery. Darren Walker and Kieron Fitzpatrick scored for the Waterloo. Paul Bertram scored for the Isabella.

FC Beacon won 4-1 at home against Cramlington Green with goals from Nigel Morris (2), Michael Lamb and Craig Sample. Jamie Summers scored for the Green.
