Royal Arms hit seven to progress

IN the second round of the Saints Shield, Monkseaton Arms lost 1-0 to Cowpen Percy Arms.

Marden Residents lost out in the Eric Anderson Cup 2-0 to Ashington Grand Street.

North Shields Royal Arms proved too strong for West Allotment in round three of the Alan Davision Cup, beating their hosts 7-3 thanks to goals from Les Thompson (3), Nicky Thompson, Alan Batiste, Scott Miles and Lee Gray. Goals for Allotment came from John Leach (2) and Andrew Jenkins.

In the Premier division, Ashington Mortimer moved back on top with a 4-1 win away to North Shields Gunner. Scoring for the Gunner was Adam Burn.

Blyth Comrades had Daniel Long to thank for their 3-2 home win against Whitley Bay Seahorse after he scored a hat-trick. Richard May and David Kerr scored for the Seahorse.

Bay Horse went down 3-2 at home against leaders Ashington Central. Jamie Summers and Chris Taylor scoring their goals.

On Sunday, the league has eight teams in round two of the County Minor Cup.
