SEATON Burn College Under-13s triumphed in the semi-finals after an extra-time win against Lancashire-based Stanley High School.
Midway through the first half, Seaton Burn took the lead when Joe Shanley’s shot was parried by the home goalkeeper into the path of Luke Betts who poked the ball home.
The home team rallied almost immediately and equalised when a scramble in the Seaton Burn box resulted in the assistant referee indicating that the ball had crossed the line.
Just before half-time, Stanley HS then took the lead with a superb strike from 25 yards.
Seaton Burn came out strongly in the second half and began to dominate the game.
After 60 minutes one of the many surging runs by the outstanding Shanley saw him being fouled in the box. James McAuley’s penalty saw the Stanley goalkeeper get a hand to it but he could not keep the ball out.
With minutes left to play, a Seaton Burn corner was cleared off the line.
The game went into extra-time with the teams facing seven minutes each way.
Two minutes from time Nathan Jeffrey was reintroduced to the fray and made an immediate impact, firing home for his 14th goal of the competition.
Seaton Burn eagerly await the date and venue for the final against Great Cornard Middle School (Suffolk).
