TyneMet gained their first win of the ECFA season following a super second half show away at Wakefield College.
The game started with defenders on top in the early exchanges and there was not much goalmouth action.
TyneMet’s first chance came from a set play on 20 minutes when Lewis Scorgie rose highest to head a Shane Jones corner only to see his header hacked off the line by a defender.
Only a minute later TyneMet should have been a goal up when Niko Glowacki spurned a chance from six yards out and they went close again not long after following a Jones strike from the edge of the box produced a fine save from the home keeper.
However, within a minute of the restart TyneMet were a goal up following a Connor Brown lay off to Jones who unleashed a rocket of a strike that hit the underside of the bar on the way into the goal.
It was 2-0 on 50 minutes when Glowacki raced through onto a Josh Bain through ball, lobbing the onrushing keeper for his first goal of the season.
Substitute Lewis Howe made sure of the points on the hour mark when he was set free behind the defence and finished neatly across the keeper into the bottom corner of the net.
Shortly before the end Howe doubled his tally after he reacted the fastest to follow up after Glowacki had his shot well saved.
