NORTH Shields Town moved off the bottom of the Tyneside Amateur League division two with an impressive 2-0 win away at Gosforth Bohemians A.
John Patterson and Matthew Slater were Town’s goalscorers.
In division one, New York kept up the heat in second with a 5-1 win at Heaton Rifles.
Danny Henderson celebrated a hat-trick while Paul Jordan and Paul Noon also scored. Mark Ryan hit the consolation for Rifles.
Walker Central maintained their advantage at the top with a 3-2 win over Winlaton The Queens Head. Third-placed West Jesmond beat FoWS Diggers 5-2.
The group stage of the Neville Cowey Cup got under way with an exciting game between North Shields Athletic Reserves and Lindisfarne Athletic, with the visitors running out 3-2 winners. Marc Crammond and Sean Millington scored for the home side, whilst Ross Seaman, Jonny Storey and Mark Wilkinson netted for Lindy.
The two league sides in Minor Cup fourth round action dropped out at the expense of higher ranked competition. Newcastle Medicals lost 5-3 to Cullercoats despite goals from Ross Brown and Shaun Cannell (2), whilst Cullercoats Reserves went out to New Fordley by the odd goal in seven. Stephen Moat, James Ridley and James Ritson their scorers.
The last outstanding third round Minor Cup tie saw Stobswood Welfare advance at the expense of Shilbottle Colliery Welfare thanks to a Robert Baker hat-trick. Stobswood meet North Sunderland in the fourth round next week.
