TYNEMET College’s football team returned to action after the festive break and tok all three points from their trip to Teesside tom play Redcar.
The game started in glorious sunshine on a near perfect playing surface with the visitors going close on a couple of occasions when Ryan Ferrier blasted wide from inside the area.
Minutes later Lewis Summerson was played trough by Ryan Alpin only for his shot to hit the side netting.
TyneMet took the lead on 25 minutes when John Wears drove a free kick from 25-yards into the box and Alex Clafton volleyed the ball home from close range.
The goal lifted the visitors and they extended their lead on 28 minutes when a Wears through ball put Elliot Dixon clear and he made no mistake slotting the ball over the on-rushing keeper.
TyneMet were in control against a physical and robust home team who were trying hard to get back into the game but never threatened Nathan Eaton’s goal.
The third goal came on 52 minutes when, after some intense pressure from TyneMet, the ball was bouncing around in the home box and Ferrier pounced on the loose ball and fired home beyond the keeper.
A fourth soon followed three minutes later when Dan Young got on the ball just inside the home half, dribbled past three defenders into the box and passed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Redcar got a consolation goal back on 72 minutes as TyneMet tired.
The Redcar goal came from a fast break following a Tyne Met corner and the home side broke away in numbers and they found the spare player to spoil any chance of a clean sheet for the visitors.
However, there was still time for another Tyne Met goal as another surging run from Young saw him reach the be-line and his pull back cross landed perfectly on the head of Dixon to get his second of the game.
