TYNEMOUTH United Under-12s produced another fine team performance to beat local rivals Whitley Bay Boys Club 3-2.
United started well with wide play from Nathan Allison and Will Walton who were backed up by full backs Dan Hall and Elliot Stewart.
They went ahead on ten minutes when Callum Young’s long shot was parried and Liam Scott put away the rebound.
Two minutes after the restart, Whitley Bay won a free kick which disected the Tynemouth defence for Whitley Bay’s striker to cleverly round keeper Nick Atkin to equalise.
At half-time Kieron Anderson was brought on to play behind Ryan Hall and Callum Young was moved to the left.
United started the second half well with Matthew Buckley breaking up the play and distributing well, and they went ahead when Anderson combined with Young.
Ryan Armstrong and David McVeigh were then introduced to add defensive steel.
A great through ball from Ryan Armstrong put Anderson through and he combined with Young for the latter to score his tenth in three games for 3-1.
Whitley Bay pulled to withing one, but Tynemouth’s defence, led by Jake Lindsay and ably backed up by Joseph Atkinson, remained strong until the final whistle.
