Two of the region’s most famous names are joining together in a major collaboration as Greggs sponsor Wallsend Boys’ Club in a two-year partnership.

The Greggs logo will appear on the club’s kit, which will be worn by more than 60 members of the club including managers, coaches and officials for over 1,500 games in various leagues, cups and tours both in the UK and abroad.

Wallsend Boys’ Club committee member Hance McGhie said: “It’s fantastic to have Greggs support our club.

“We are always looking to team up with people in the local community, so it’s great to be able to work with such a well-known brand that all us Geordies truly love.

“Their help really will go a long way for us.”

Graeme Nash, head of customer and marketing at Greggs, said: “Wallsend Boys’ Club has been an institution in Newcastle since 1904, and has produced a string of professional football players such as Alan Shearer OBE and England international Michael Carrick.

“Not only, that, but the club has done an amazing job of inspiring and shaping local children to be the best they can be, whether that’s carrying out valuable community work, playing football or enjoying other activities.

“We’re therefore honoured to sponsor Wallsend Boys Club and hope this is the start of a long and fruitful partnership.”

Wallsend Boys’ Club started in 1904 and has a great history in encouraging youths to get involved in recreational activities while keeping them out of trouble.

The club is still going strong and producing an enviable résumé of talented football players.
