Tyneside Amateur League
Wardley moved into the quarter-finals of the Neville Cowey Cup after their delayed First Round tie at North Shields Athletic Reserves finally went ahead on Saturday.
Carl Clarke and Dean Kirtley netted the visitors’ goals in a 2-1 success, with Matthew Thompson replying for Leeroy Odd’s Athletic.
In the League, Dale Pearson made it ten goals in two games after another clinical performance. Having netted six times in last Saturday’s 7-0 win over Ponteland United Reserves, Pearson smashed home four more as Hazlerigg Victory beat Newcastle Medicals 6-2. Kurt Blacklock and Ryan Graham also scored for Hazlerigg, while John Steel struck twice for Medicals, who were well in the game until the final quarter.
The only other game to beat the weather saw Gosforth Bohemian Reserves beat Ponteland United Reserves 2-1. Jon Paul Bradley and Colin McLaughlin scored for Bohs, with Myles Candlish on target for Pont. Bohs are now up to fifth, having only lost once all season.
The remaining four games were postponed thanks to further wet weather.
