It was another blank on Saturday for North Shields as their scheduled home match with Thornaby fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.
The Robins are at Brandon on Wednesday for a Northern League Cup tie and should they be successful – they have an 11-0 goal ratio against the County Durham outfit in two league meetings this campaign – they will entertain Whitehaven or Dunston at the quarter-final stage.
League-wise, boss Graham Fenton aims to keep his table-toppers focused as they make the short journey to fellow promotion hopefuls Heaton Stannington on Saturday, kick-off at Grounsell Park is 3pm.
When the sides met at the Daren Persson Stadium in September the Shieldsmen triumphed 3-1 with Dan Smart (2) and Adam Forster on target.
Then its onto Darlington RA on Tuesday, February 11, for an Ernest Armstrong trophy tie, kick-off at 7.30pm.
Assistant manager Andy Bowman said: “We’re in a very healthy position as we head into the final straits of the season.
“Of course there’s some way to go yet but perhaps we can think of even extending our targets to winning the championship and claiming a cup along the way.
“The lads are a credit to North Shields. I’ve never been in a dressing room with a group of players who are so professional in their approach.
“The amount of goals we’ve scored proves how ruthless we are and fingers crossed we’ll be looking to celebrate come April.”
