West Allotment Celtic A claimed their first Northern Alliance win of the season last Wednesday as a much improved performance from the young side was rewarded with a 3-0 over Wideopen & District.
Goals from Dan Haggerston, Ben Jackson and Dan Surley gave the young development side, made up from many of last season’s Whitley Bay Boys Club Under-18s, their first league win in senior football.
However, Allotment A then fell to a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of fellow new side Gateshead Leam Rangers on Saturday.
Two first half goals from Lewis Conroy and Tony Falconer handed the momentum to Gateshead in a first half that the away side controlled.
Allotment rallied in the second half but were left vulnerable at the back when pushing for a way back into the game, allowing Liam Craig, Aaron Reynolds and Marc Conroy to net after the break to seal a comfortable win for the visitors.
Allotment A travel to Longbenton on Wednesday evening with manager Henry Brandon hoping for a positive reaction from his young players before playing another away league game at Grainger Park Boys on Saturday.
