Whitley Bay FC Barca U9s 3 Cramlington Juniors Santa Fe U9s 1
FIRST up were a powerful Cramlington Juniors side who were the last team to take points off Barca in a 2-2 draw back in October. There were no goals in a tightly contested first quarter before Barca began to take control in the second quarter, first a powerful shot from Wills struck the post before Bobby Johnson opened the scoring with a dazzling run and precise finish into the bottom corner. Dreyer doubled the lead in the third quarter with a typical poacher’s goal before Cramlington pulled one back just before the end of the third quarter with a neat finish. The win was sealed in the final quarter when a powerful run and cross from Wills was clinically put away by Coulson in the middle. Diamond and Coulson defended strongly throughout to limit Cramlington to only a few half chances.

BARCA travelled to Bedlington the following day looking to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Despite dominating from start to finish Barca could only manage a draw when Bedlington broke late in the final quarter to equalise and cancel out a well taken goal from Dreyer in the second quarter. The Bedlington goal led a charmed life throughout the game although Bedlington’s keeper made a string of excellent saves including a penalty save. Barca are now 11 games unbeaten but were disappointed not to maintain their 100 per cent start to the league.
